CASA IRADIER
Family home with a cosmopolitan ambiance, featuring classic lines of Catalan modernism, nestled in the elegant neighborhood of Sarrià in Barcelona.
Casa Iradier is part of a set of 8 homes built in 1930 in the Sarrià neighborhood of Barcelona by a bourgeois family for their eight children.
Local materials and construction techniques passed down through generations were used in its construction; hydraulic mosaics, wooden beams, plastered reed ceilings, moldings, cornices, double doors, brass handles, and countless elements characteristic of Catalan architecture.
With a rectangular layout and oriented to three winds, this home enjoys natural light all day long, emphasized by its 4.20m high ceilings and stone color, which imparts a timeless serenity.
The preserved classical elements play in wonderful harmony, creating a new balance between contemporary intervention and inherited modernist elements.
The result is a cosmopolitan atmosphere home with a meticulously planned layout tailored to the client's lifestyle.
We aimed to preserve the majesty and elegance of its towering ceilings by maintaining their height and restoring the cornices. The exceptionally spacious hallway serves as the backbone of the rooms, capturing and connecting the light passing through the two facades. The space is grand yet sweet and homely.
The kitchen is designed connected to the living room, serving as a functional, familial, and warm space without high furniture to provide lightness.
The living room opens onto the terrace, retaining the original ceramic pavement reminiscent of "Catalan cover" with three large bicolored windows imitating the original wooden ones.
The bathrooms, all with natural light, feature furniture designed in the studio and custom-made in collaboration with master carpenter and cabinetmaker Josep María Pons. The hallway console, kitchen bench, coffee table, and sideboard-library furniture designed in oak wood and marble exude the simplicity and softness that pervade the home.
Tall baseboards line the walls, moldings rhythm the space, and cornices frame the rooms, emphasizing the home with palatial undertones.
Stone color was chosen as the base color for the entire house, walls and ceilings, with slight gradations creating a chromatic and material unity that envelops the habitat in sensory peace.
Color comes hand in hand with the mural artworks of the talented artist and sculptor Asor Gurdi, artistic director of our studio.
