Architecture to me is a way of perceiving the world. It's an adventure that goes far beyond construction.
Architecture is an exploratory and laborious craft that, through exhaustive processes, achieves purposes that transcend the limits of the created space.
An architectural project combines the expression of beauty, symbols, and meanings; distributive and social functionality; relationship with the "place"; the appropriate use of materials and techniques, and respect for traditions... without forgetting the poetic language.
From a very young age, my academic and professional journey has led me to explore different facets of design and architecture. I am a building engineer, architect, and interior designer. Each of these roles has enriched my perspective and contributed to shaping the designer I am today.
My mother, an artist and sculptor, introduced me to the world of beauty. From her, I learned that beauty is not just aesthetic but also an expression of the soul. Beauty lies in the details, shapes, colors, and the stories we tell through our art. She taught me the value of "unique," of things made by hand. Growing up under her influence was an invaluable gift that deeply influenced my approach to design.
From my father, a Galician sailor with an adventurous spirit, I inherited his explorer's spirit and insatiable curiosity about the world around us. His life at sea and his travels inspired me to seek beauty in unexpected places and to appreciate the diversity of cultures and landscapes.
Influenced by a family that has had various businesses, including restaurants, I grew up in an environment where business strategy and understanding how to make a business profitable were fundamental. This has given me a trained eye for strategy and a profound appreciation for interior architecture as an indispensable tool for transforming businesses into successful projects.
The world of architecture and interior design is my passion and vocation. I don't just see my work as a profession but as a way of life. For me, design is an expression of the essence of a space and the people who inhabit it.
My studio, EG, is not just a workplace but a reflection of my commitment to excellence and creativity. Here, my team and I constantly challenge conventional boundaries and seek new ways to transform spaces into living and functional works of art.
My deep love for craftsmanship, inherited from my mother, has led me to maintain close contact with talented artisans. When I visit their workshops, I absorb the profound learning of their craft. Each handmade piece has a story and authenticity that adds unique value to my projects. I create custom furniture pieces in every project, and these pieces are small projects in themselves to which I dedicate a lot of care and attention.
